The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health offers graduate study and research leading to a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in four major areas with further specialization within each area:

  • Biobehavioral Kinesiology studies the impact of sport and physical activity on individuals.
  • Community Health and Rehabilitation examines issues such as cancer epidemiology, cultural aspects of disability and rehabilitation, health education, health policy and health behavior.
  • Cultural, Pedagogical, and Interpretive Studies incorporates the humanities, science, and teacher education to study a breadth of subjects associated with physical activity, health, and body culture in human life and society.
  • Exercise Physiology studies work output, energy transfer, and movement efficiency. Research in this area strives to better understand the consequences of exercise stress on body systems.

The Department also offers a Master of Public Health degree. The MPH program provides education and training in the core competencies of public health and offers a concentration in Health Behavior and Promotion.
