Renal and Cardiovascular Disease Research Laboratory
Welcome
Welcome to the Renal and Cardiovascular Disease Research Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health
at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Our lab primarily conducts research regarding the effects that exercise and
dietary modifications have on the development or progression of cardiovascular disease and other related metabolic disorders in
chronic kidney disease patients. We conduct human clinical research as well as perform studies in animal models to decipher
molecular and cellular mechanisms that may be responsible for the beneficial effects of lifestyle modifications on these disorders.
The research questions and projects in our lab are often multi-disciplinary in nature, so we frequently collaborate with other
laboratories in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health as well as other departments across the University of Illinois
campus and at local clinics and hospitals.
